Microdermabrasion Maintains Skin Health

Regular microdermabrasion appointments maintains skin health by removing dead skin cells making room for new skin cells.

What is medical microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a process of physically exfoliating the skin. Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. In young, healthy skin, this process happens naturally approximately every 28 days, making room for new skin cells. As we age, not only does the skin turnover slow down but sometimes dead cells don’t shed completely. This can result in a less than desired tone and texture as dead cells build up on your skin. This can create a barrier to any of the products you may be using therefor you are unable to use these products to their full potential.

A medical grade microdermabrasion can remove up to 30% of dead surface skin resulting in a smoother complexion that is able to better absorb skin care products.

At ReNew You, we have multiple modalities of microdermabrasion that are fully customizable so we can tailor your facial treatment to best suit your skin.

  •  Traditional microdermabrasion uses a Diamond tip wand and suction to gently loosen the dead skin and pull it away. This can be customized in a microdermabrasion facial with other nourishing skin care products.
  •  The Diamond Glow utilizes a smaller Diamond tip wand that exfoliates while using an advanced vortex technology. This technology pushes nourishing serums into the skin while simultaneously extracting dirt, oil and debris.
  • The hydrafacial  utilizes a disposable plastic microderm tip while it deeply cleanses. This treatment also uses a light chemical exfoliation and loads your skin with hydration and antioxidants that will protect your skin from free radical damage.

How many treatments will I need?

It is encouraged to get regular medical grade exfoliating treatments as we age approximately every 4-6 weeks to help maintain skin cell turnover.

What products do you recommend to improve the health of the skin at home?

ReNew You also sells 2 microdermabrasion home care products that are great options to maintain optimal skin health at home between appointments.
  • Revisions Finishing touch is a microdermabrasion scrub that you can apply and massage in a circular motion all over face and neck (I like this for hands too) for about 1-3 minutes after you cleanse. Simply rinse away and apply your regular regimen after that.
  • Revisions Pumkin Enzyme Mask is a gentle microdermabrasion mask that also nourishes and hydrates your skin. After you cleanse you massage this mask in for 1-3 minutes and then leave on for an addition 10-15 minutes to nourish and hydrate. Rinse away and then apply your regular skin care regimen.

How do I get started?

Microdermabrasion can be safe for most skin types however anyone with inflammation such as acne, eczema or rosacea may not be a good candidate for this treatment. Talk to an advanced practice Esthetician if you are uncertain if this is a good option for you. Also be sure to avoid any topical exfoliating products such as active serum or retinol for 3 days prior to any exfoliating clinic treatment.
