What is Sculptra Aesthetic and how is it different from traditional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers? 

Sculptra Aesthetic is a bio-stimulatory product that is made up of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), addressing collagen loss- a root cause of aging. Sculptra works with your body by stimulating your own natural collagen production. While hyaluronic acid dermal fillers correct the symptoms of facial aging, Sculptra addresses an underlying cause itself, lost collagen. Sculptra works within the deep dermis to replace lost collagen and reinforce skin structure. It can give you noticeable results that emerge subtly.

What is Collagen loss?

Collagen is a key structural component that keeps skin youthful looking and smooth. As we age, our body’s collagen production decreases.  Collagen and Elastin are the two components responsible for the elasticity, texture and appearance of our skin. Collagen loss begins in our 20’s and by the age of 45, we’ve lost up to 25%. During aging, collagen loss presents, over time, as deflated volume, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, and thinning skin.

What type of downtime should I expect? 

This procedure has minimal downtime, immediately after you might experience some tenderness and swelling. Additionally, there is a possibility of bruising around the injection site which may last several days.

How many treatments do I need? 

Through a series of treatments, determined using the “vial per decade” protocol, Sculptra will begin to rebuild and reinforce your skins structural foundation to restore, support and volumize, providing a youthful appearance, lasting up to two years.
